Maryland Tree Frog Can I set it free?

 • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sorry didn't check the whole thread
give DNR a call, see what they say, otherwise I'll take a few to set up in a terrarium if they are the spring peeper type things i always thought that was the most awesum sound.
Would love to set up a big pond for big stuff in summer and a few bullfrogs.. I like watching the metamorphosis
eh with regards to danger to wild populations kinda rotten luck you saved some and now they may be a threat.
Isolate em maybe then let em go in spring ( i really would have to check regs on this)

I use to work at Bowie racetrack before it closed, obviously... Did you rescue the tadpoles from the wild? I never understood people saying you shouldnt return what you've taken?

This site is great. I rescued them from my wheel barrow.(teach me to not turn it over).Looks like I'll be keeping them till spring. I don't have a problem selling them once they have grown some. How long should I wait (how old should they frogs be) before selling (my first foray into frogs)? What is a fair price? Also does anyone have a link they can recommend that will show me how to set up a proper habitat for the frogs.:newbie::frog:

If they been exposed to other herptiles, then they become potential carriers of diseases. My Tiger Salamanders are all rescues/old fish baits, but I won't re-release them because they been exposed to other reptiles in other people's collection. Last thing I want is a disease to wipe out a local population of wild salamanders from a pond or two.

:) They are all by there lonesome have not been exposed to anything other than their brothers and sisters.Does this mean it would be safe to release in the spring. I have a large bamboo stand that the others seam to live in.

Well in Maryland you have both Green Treefrogs (Hyla cinerea) and Spring Peepers (Pseudacris crucifer), lol! I guess we'll just wait for some pictures.

Sorry for the wait,I haven't been able to get any good photos. Here is one I will try for more Sunday afternoon.

Count update 11-15 frogs and about 20 more tadpoles:eek:

It's kind of hard to tell what species it is. Does it have an "X" across the middle of it's back? If so it's a Spring Pepper. I have caught Green Treefrogs before that weren't green at all.
