Whenever doing water changes, if you use the same source water, and do frequent water changes, it's better to not mess with your pH unless your water is considerably unbuffered which leads to pH swings, which is stressful for your fish.
It's better to do frequent water changes with just treated tap water, than it is to mess with the pH with pH altering additives.
Not true. I used to be sceptical about messing with my pH, and my bichirs always freaks out everytime a large water change is required (nitrate level high). I only check the 3N's once a week. So far bless that the first 2 are always at zero. But nitrate can get up to very high levels since my bichirs are messy eaters.
Then my friend introduced me to this product from API called pH 7.0. I used it and my pH have been perfect ever since. Bichirs still freak out due to the sudden change in water height but less intense.
They are doing well now and I swear my life on this product.
My water is so hard/highly buffered, putting pH altering compounds (like Neutral Regulator 7.0) makes the pH change, but then it just goes right back up, and that's what's called a pH swing, and what causes stress to the fish.
one is getting beter the other is getting worst. The poly that is getting worst still has blood red in his mouth, is getting very skinny and has red streaks on his once beatiful fin!!! A little help here? Thanks
