mata mata

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You know from what I'm aware of, we're the only Country that has the 4" law. In Mexico I can purchase 2" matamatas straight from the farm, I dont have to wait for them to get up to the "legal" 4" to import them.. Hence why you tend to see them all around that size when offered for sale.
Yeah...state law does not make sense..

It ALSO doesn't make sense because arent there instances where the turtle doesn't exceed four inches (like certain muds or musks)? I technically own an illegally sized southern painted turtle (rescue), but I'm almost positive he's done growing.
I'm sure the law only exists because back in the day some kindergartener licked the class pet and got salmonella poisoning.

maybe not.....you'd be amazed how many people don't wash their hands.

Those same people have kids and don't teach their kids to wash their hands either.

I had to tell my friend this weekend that he's supposed to wash his hands after handling raw meat. I was shocked he was never concerned about it

That is true. It's amazing how blatantly ignorant people can be. Once I was at the zoo and a woman pointed to a Chinese alligator and said to her kid, "Honey look at the lizard! See the lizard?" Like, are you kidding? I can understand trying to dumb things down for kids, but that's just stupid.

It's scary enough to notice how many people in restaraunt and movie theater restrooms do not wash their hands after handling their business.I am guilty of not washing my hands after dealing with raw meat....but then again,I usually rinse the meat off pretty good before I work with and cook it.

water doesn't disinfect for things like Salmonella or Trichinosis.....only a goos AB-soap can do that. If u get that stuff on your hands, it now gets transferred to everything you touch - chicken, pork, especially.....but the others can be just as bad - even fish can have who-knows-what before cooking.

Sushi anyone?
