So I’ve two jags in my tank along with other fish, they both are around 5”. Since a few days I’ve been noticing that they both are always together and sometimes the smaller jag bothers the bigger one. The bigger jag got a prolapsed Anus yesterday and they both have been digging and moving the sand. I found something that looks like eggs in tank and just wanted to confirm if they’re eggs or something else. I have a Texas who is just messing around with them since yesterday. Tank is 75 gallon with Texas, green terror and EBJD all are around 3-4”. The tank has been peaceful since 2-3 months and suddenly the Texas has gone crazy. Also need to mention that the Jaguar are flared up when together and just moving in a circular motion side by side. Please help F5315609-347F-4E33-9A2B-54BE2CF4C7EF.jpeg8A986661-35CF-488C-B8D1-10F14DEC0762.jpegED52BF0C-5F25-404B-B646-C662E4434945.jpeg4D2D7C4A-8ED9-4EC6-B097-FF8C53518770.jpeg

Those are definitely eggs on top of that power head. It's going to be a war zone in that size aquarium. I suggest you setup another aquarium because if the Jaguar Cichlid are a pair they will kill to protect eggs or fry. Possibly the Texas may harm the Jag's.

Comes to me as a surprise, never knew jags could mate at 5” . How do I move the eggs? Or let the eggs hatch and then move them. Info is really appreciated. Thank you so much

The only way to remove the eggs is if the eggs were layed on a rock, driftwood, or ornament but you will need to have a seeded filter for the hatchery aquarium for the eggs.

Can I just put a partition and add a sponge filter? There is already filter media in the tank.

You could do that temporarily but you must consider what I stated in my first post. Dividing the aquarium is going to risky with the other fish especially if the Texas gets aggressive.

I don’t mind getting rid of the Texas but I can’t get rid of him till tomorrow morning. He has the digging in the same place where the jags are digging would it be to stop them from laying eggs or anything else? He’s already gotten aggressive and has been chasing the jags all day long. Please help. This is the first time someone has mated in my tank. Don’t want it to fail. Should I separate him immediately or can I give him one night more?

Even the GT tried to mess with the Jags but the Jags gave him a beating and he’s not even going near them anymore so is it cool if he stays with them or I’ll have to remove all the fish and just keep them both together? The EBJD is 3” and he’s no threat

So the Texas was digging in the same area I'm not sure if it's possible but may it was the Texas and 1 of the Jag's.

Oh ok the Texas probably was eating the eggs. Did you notice the Jag's chasing the Texas away at anytime?
