Use pond matrix, hundred bucks for 5 gallons, and that should provide atleast the same amount of bio that you can get with a hundred dollars worth of bioballs in an area about a quarter the size. I want to finish my 55 gallon sump, add a huge spraybar and fill it with matrix and setup up a low flow 2.5gallon bucket with denitrate. I'd then powerfeed my Jardini like theres no tomorrow.
