Here's yet another update on my 40 gallon Central American themed tank.

Stock: 8x Archocentrus multispinosus, 3 xiphophorous helleri, ~20-30 Archocentrus multispinosus fry.

Mysteriously enough, when I went to rehardscape my tank I ended up missing 1 of my archocentrus multispinosa that I have been raising since it was a juvenile. I had the horrific thoughts that I had buried him alive underneath the rubble, but thought that he was smarter than that, considering he's older and larger than some of the other juvis that I have. I'm really considering taking apart all the rocks again and search for him, but that would take so much time and energy. What do you think I should do?

BTW, my main light blew out so all I'm left with is a sh**y t-8 bulb that barely lights the tank, which makes it even harder to hardscape.

rip that aquascaping apart until you find him. but otherwise, nice tank.

Nice Aquascaping, love the Multispinosus. The video is cool, but i hate the music.

Somewhat good news. I found the fish without having to rip apart my aquascape :) + :( I decided to look behind the cabinet and there I found him parched as a bird and hard as a rock. I had big expectations for this fellow, it's too bad.

here are some pics of him. nothing too gruesome. Kinda like a mummy you see in museums.

and then there's a picture I tried to take of the fry in the breeding net.

damn, thats bad but at least you know what happened now and you get to keep your art in one piece.

Yeah, I had already gone through the whole mourning the loss process yesterday when I knew he was dead, either underneath the rocks or jumped out. Just picked him up (not with my hands) tossed him in the toilet said an Our Father, and flushed. Is that how most people do it? Thank god my dog didn't get to him like a couple of my other fish. I think I'll have to put that plastic cover on again, if I can find it.

And yes, I'm thankful I didn't have to take it all apart again, I just filled it to the top and didn't want to have to drain a few inches so I wouldn't splash around everywhere. Saved me alot of time.

Wow, I love your tank. I really like the mix of river rock and driftwood. I have been looking for some nice rock like that for my CA tank as well. Great choice of fish :) Sorry to hear you lost your big guy. I've had a couple go that way and it sucks. I'm glad you didn't have to rip apart your tank though.
