Hey there MFK, did anyone else experience problems with MFK earlier today and last night? I posted this last night, and it triple posted  so I knew something was wrong. Anyways, I finally got a 40 gallon tank, barely worthy of Monsterfishkeeper status, but it's definitely a step up from my 10 gallon. With a good layer of flourite, 100 watts of power, 2 HOB filters, and a 200 watt heater, I think it was quite the birthday present this year. Too bad, I spent all this money and it's not ending there.

Pic 1: Last night right after complete setup: very very cloudy water

Pic 2: This morning: 100% water change. 11 goldfish. 1 full bottle of superbac, and new black bacground. = no cloudy water anymore :headbang2

Pic 3: The piece of driftwood I picked up today: nice huh?

Now I just need to wait for the tank to cycle, order the plants, order the fish, boil the driftwood, then aquascape, and I think I'm set. Is there anything I'm missing?

BTW MFK, I still can't upload attachments. Just letting you know

Thanks, but I have a problem: there is this white film that is forming on the glass and when I try to wipe it off it just becomes a white cloud and makes the water hazy again. What is this stuff? and when I disturb the gravel at all, dust just shoots out and makes the water hazy too. is this the same stuff? How do I get rid of it?

did you use new or used gravel? it sound's like some sort of algae or something along the line's of that. Can you get a pic of it posted?

very nice tank, lovng it. U should try some tropical fish too

Thanks, yeah, I just have the goldfish in there to feed the bacteria, I'll be getting more tropical fish later. So the plant stock right now is 4 stems of val, 2 java moss balls, 1 echinodorus (i think. correct me if i'm wrong), 1 anubius nana, and 1 giant amazon sword (which I may need to get rid of cause it's protruding out of the water. I bought only 1 angelfish yesterday at my friend's request, but didn't have enough money to buy more, so unfortunately he is alone for now. I may return him though because I've heard mixed reviews about compatibility with other community fish, can anyone give me some insight? Earlier this morning and last night he was floating in akward angles, but now that I'm looking at him from a distance, he seems to be fine, and playing with the goldfish. I think I'm getting some UG from a friend, so that'll cover the carpet, I'd like to get some more anubius, and some more midground plants, but that'll come with time. I'm dosing 3/4 capful of Seachem flourish once a week. My anubius seems to be melting a little bit, though and I didn't have time to properly prepare my plants, I just sort of stuck them in there, so I guess that's what I'm gonna do now. I'll update later.

did u wash the gravle before u put it in the tank?

Yeah, I washed the gravel for at least an hour and thought it was running pretty clear, maybe a little cloudy. It settles pretty fast though, like overnight; but when I'm planting, everything flies up again. Now I was told to terrace my substrate, like push it back and make it higher in the back than in the front and hold it there with rocks. Is this true? Should I do this? As for lighting, I have about a 100 watts (1 20w pc, and an 84 2 bulb T5 with one 10000k white bulb and one pink 6500K bulb). I might upgrade though towards christmas, but for now this is what I'm working with, about 2.5 watts per gallon. Now my echinodorus or w/e has a weird base, if you look in the pictures, you can tell that the roots are like overlapping over what I think is the bulb and it won't fit all the way into my substrate, so that's a little problem. My other question is, how are the temperaments of the angelfish? Are they pretty territorial, will they eat small fish like zebra danios or neon tetras?
