pump feeds try not to exceed 5 ft per second
pump returns try not to exceed 10 ft per second flow velocity

holler if you need help with the math :)
 
Don't forget also that the flow rate is partially dependent on how many bends and turns are in your drain line. Every 90 degree bend will add resistance, slowing your flow, so keep bends and angles to a minimum and as gradual as possible. Use 45's rather than 90's if possible.

i use alot of flex pvc piping for that reason
