Max Size of Salvinis

Most of the material on internet, and fish books give the max size of Salvini as 6"(15cm), TL, I happened to come across 8-9" specimen at an LFS, wasnt much colorful but was a nice big brute at that size, was beating up a bigger texas, large parrots in the same tank.....Whats the actual size of these guys?

Are you positive that it was a salvini and not a p. loisellei or a p. friedrichschtalli?

max size is around 6", i have seen 7" but they were HUGE for salvini's.

We were just talking about this on sat at our lfs and we couldnt believe how large the salvini and male convicts are,one male salvini would look silly in a 55 due to there bulk.I said to the worker they may have to reclassify them as med cichlids instead of small.he also said a week before they had really large firemouths.pm me if your local and ill tell you the store some are still there.

wow red varient salvini's, never seen them before. and i'm guessing there not a common cichlid to find if polomax has it. where are they collected from?, regualar salvini's don't hit 8-10" i'll tell ya that.

I am wrestling with trying to decide to get a Salvini or a Grammode...I've heard that grammodes are meaner but grow painfully slow. Whats the scoop on the Salvini say vs. a grammode?

both are aggro fish, probably about equal, grammodes are very slow growing where as salvini's are decently fast, ethier is a good choice. both have great colors and markings as adults. grommodes max out at 11"ish, salvini's 7" for most, 10" for red varients.

Well XR you are thr Cichlasoma and Parachromis man so I'm gonna take your word for it lol. Which one would you pick I like them equally the same. They are both from Rapps and I'm trying to get this order in before 1 and I cant make up my damn mind salvini or grammode.
