Well XR you are thr Cichlasoma and Parachromis man so I'm gonna take your word for it lol. Which one would you pick I like them equally the same. They are both from Rapps and I'm trying to get this order in before 1 and I cant make up my damn mind salvini or grammode.

i personally am an impatient man when it come to growing fish into monsters, so in this case the salvini is where i would go. i have also noticed that grammodes are not always the most stable and hardy fish as juvi's. many people have them die quickly, simalar to Odo's.

and i would personally shoot for a solo breeding pair of salvini's- their colors and aggresion tendencies as with all fish really shine when they have a mate.

thanks for the compliment BTW :)

I dunno if I have the space for a breeding pair of aggressive cichild even if they are medium. I am about to take my RD, JD, and a convict back to my LFS now to get some store credit and make room for the new guys that hopefully will be here tomorrow. BTW I am going to get the salvini.

personally i'd probably take a look at craigslist and see if anybody has a 55 gal for sale in your area. 4'x12" footprint is adequate for a nice pair. It's up to you, they are cool cichlids, you have decide what you like more. if you ever decide on a pair, make sure to keep them away from other cichlids or small fish. they are fiesty little fellas.

When I get my 180, could I keep a breeding pair of Sal's in my 90 along with other's and if so what other fish could stand up to them that would be comfortable in a 90?

you can, but they should be on the larger side, only a couple other fish and they should be passive fish.

something like a texas, jack dempsey, a big dopey oscar- or possibly a Saum (not always a good choice).

Thanks XR for the help once again.

NP, happy to help:)

I have a pair of breeding Sals in my 75g (same length and width of a 90g). They are ruthless. I had to put a divider because they pretty much bully everyone into hiding. So it might not be a good idea for tank mate, IMO. And the pair are only about 3"
