maximum percent of water change?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well with GOLDFISH there is no reason why you can't do a 100% water change. It's important to get the temp of the new water as close as possible to the old water. The temp difference will be lessened if you do a smaller percentage water change. Again no reason you can't do a 100% water change. Goldfish dislike quick changes in water PH. If you've been keeping up with your water changes there should be no significant PH difference. Again there is no reason why you can't do a 100% water change. A liquid test kit is your friend. Us it. Hope this clears things up for you LOL!!!!

The Rio Paraguay (where many of our fish, oscars for example come from) discharges 712,500 gallons per second at its mouth. Of course some areas move slower, some faster.
No matter how large a water change we do, we won't come even remotely close.

Very good point.

Imho..if you have drip system, capable heater, prefilter and can pay the water bill then you can simulate very slow river and make 100, 200, 500, 1000% water change daily.. if you dont, then up to 50% at one time because its almost impossible to hit same ph of tap and tank water and could stress fishes..

I typically do 50-75% WC's, it will very based on how much I fed in the previous week. I have done this for years and years.
