You seriously converted a 4" gar to pellets? My 13" gator still thinks they're the work of the devil, and I've been trying since he was 7".

Yeah. Mine is a Florida Gar tho.
Erm i got em at 4" and just the next day after getting into the tank, they took the pallets straight. Never had to convert them. Lucky me i guess? =P
Oh and i gave em Market Prawn the other day and they totally ignored it.

Fast him for 2 weeks and throw in a piece of talapia with pellets crammed in it! He will start accepting pellets but you should still supplement other protein rich fish! Some people have gone over a month with no food to get their gars on pellets. Be patient

Given the size of the gar that is an inappropriate method of pellet training the gar. Get it bigger first by raising it on feeders, till around 8", before trying to convert to pellets. Starving it at such a young age can have negative effects on the gar.

Yea, do not starve a young gar. That will affect its growth.
Just try stuffing pallets into their diet or just train later when they grow up.

Should have constant access to feeders when small.

I threw some minnows in there idk if he's eating them though right now he's laying on the sand hanging out lol,he sees them and just kinda chills im guessing if he's hungry he'll go for them right?
