The way the overflows are on the new acrylic tank the waterlevel needs to be kept pretty high. The fish will a have little over an inch between the water and top of the tank. Is this sufficient for medium to large channa?

that is fine mate ,as long as you have sturdy cover to prevent jumping air gap will be fine

great. the entire top is sealed with the only openings being the two corner overflows and three big rectangles which will be covered by custom lights. thanks, col

yep, by the time they go into that tank they will be too big to fit through that small gap. even now a small fish would have to perform a tremendously acrobatic and accurate jump to get in there but I won't take any chances.

but they do give greatly accurate jumps! You wouldn't expect....

this is true. i've had bleheri and polys make some houdini like escapes through openings that looked too small for them to comfortable fit through let alone jump through. so yeah, i'll not put any fish in there that have a remote chance of squeezing out.

For the species you want to put in there youre good to go, as they are mid level species that live in deeper water in contrast to the b's and g's that live in smaller creeks and streams with significantly less water levels.
