Anyway using this type of wave maker? Did some searching in MFK and couldn’t find too much. Seems to be more popular in saltwater but lots of folks complained of reliability issues. Looking at how it works in comparison to other powerheads it looks awesome. Curious if it’s worth the cost.

Never pulled the plugg on one myself, but i did work for a coral importer for a while. I unboxed and set a few up. They come in a facy tin and seem to be made well. strong magnets and a variety of settings to play with. They really do move ALOT of water when cranked up. Honestly i was surprised as im not one for "bells and whistles" but they pushed against current/flow across a 12' frag tank no prob.
The warranty/replacement end is pretty good from the company or atleast it was IME. I went through a few in a 6-8 month period. id find them in the off position/stuck or on the lowest setting quite often in the morning coming into work. They usually always fired right back up from the control box but that gets annoying after while. Not sure y they were so prone to shutting off or if that issue has been resolved as this was a few yrs ago.
I think there marked up pretty high for what it is...but again they do move alot of water for the size of the unit. when the work lol...

From what I read the first generation had tons of issues. They newer models like you posted are suppose to be better. I would think salt water is harsher on equipment than freshwater.

The video of how they work is impressive and I think much more inconspicuous than regular powerheads. I was looking at dual xf250s but the $600 is a hefty cost. Some folks prefer a pair of mp40s instead.

I have XF250 twin on a 8ft x 3ft wide x 2ft high tank. I got them to ensure no dead spots as filters are at opposite end of tank. Very happy with them, had for about 1 year no problems. I only operate at 10% power. I'm a bit of a technotard and don't understand the full range of capabilities, I just operate on basic straight flow.

How come you are running it only at 10%? Figured for a tank that size you could run it higher. Also, curious how you positioned the two units. I am thinking of this for a 8x4 tank.

I have the maxspects positioned both on one of the end walls of the tank. The filters are at the opposite end of the tank, 8 feet away. My tank is viewable through three panels (the two 8ft lengths and one of the 3ft ends). The side with the filters is against a wall. Only operating at 10% because that gives all the circulation I need. I was very surprised when I first put them in to find out I only need 10%.

I've not personally used, but someone I know used it for at least 3 years with no issues. I don't know what generation it was. He was happy with the adjustability and flow for his reef tank.
