I wish you still had the Argentina Hystrix though!

hmmm, yes, I also feel a little bit stupid about giving him away :screwy:
But I was not able to combine him with other ray, because he always tried to copulate with all my other ray, even with my Leopoldis :WHOA: he did not harm the other rays, but I was not really keen on hybrids with him and was not able to get a suitable female for him, so I gave him away.

Hi all,

thank you very much for the compliments about my rays and YES, I am very proud of this collection :grinyes:

They are all doing very very well and now I am sitting in front of my tanks almost all day long (except during work:cry:), hoping, that the males are beginning to get interested in their playmates soon:popcorn:

Here another shot which is a few months older and shows the ray before I've put them alone, into a pure P14 system.
Combined with my Leos, the P14 unfortunatly always had little problems with worms on their gills, maybe because of stress. They've always been eating well, but often some of them were only breathing over one side.......that got boring due time and so I seperatd them, treated them with Praziquantel for three times within 8 days and now everything is fine:headbang2hope everything stays fine............:irked:

Regards
Stefan

Hey Stefan,

nice development on the henXleo. Do they all turn out looking that way or does it vary alot? I'd like to see you rebreed that with a leo again. Reminds me of something...

Greetings Mark

No, they do not really vary a lot. I would rather say, that they are always looking more or less the same type......have a look at those, they are from two batches out of two females but all from the same father:
One especially nice of these two batches, I've also kept and he is swimming by a friend of mine, near me. But unfortunatly, I do not have a picture here at the moment :( But I'll try to make one soon.....

Yes, I want to rebreed with Leos in a few years, but it'll take time.....
They remind you of something? Do you mean Rob's special Henlei?

How old is the Hybrid?

Born on 05. November 2007
and already 10-11 inch in diameter (26-28cm)......that's what I call a real heterosis effect ;-)
But it was already born with about 6 inch (16cm's)!!!

Ah yes, you're right, me and Adam also already noticed, that they look a bit like those leos and indeed, this hybrid is also already getting a well spotted underside! This well spotted leos are coming from the upper xingu river, which partly runs very close to Rio Tocantins tributaries, which means not far from the habitats where Pot. henlei comes from........if this has something to say, I do not know:confused:

I think you mean a leo like the one I am attaching now. You've already been seen this animal, as we've been barbecueing in austria last may, but now, he's swimming here in my tanks for almost one year now ;)

Regards
Stefan
