They do love insects, always had success with crickets. I did have success with flake aswell, They generally went for anything on the surface.

They were immature when I got them so they may have learned to eat flake from the other fish.

do remember to put a cover on top of ur tank or have floating planst in ur tank to prevent them from jumping out of the tank and becoming dried fish
