I was told I would be better off posting this here so here it goes LOL

Ok so my main LFS has a male Mayan that has paired up with a female Herichthys tamasopoensis. They have spawned successfully twice. The last batch was eaten by some of the other fish in the tank. Out of curiosity I took 20 tiny fry home today. I more than anything just want to see what they will look like. These guys have been free swimmers for about 2 weeks so are still not much to see. I call this their mosquito larva stage lol. They are an odd enough pair to see I cannot wait to see what coloration their babies get. What do ya'll think?????

Wow thanks !!! The Mayan was brought into the store because he out grew his owner. The LFS owner never mentioned that he could be a cross also. We have a friend that has a Mayan that looks like this guy. Of course the person that sold him his told him it was a festae. Thank you for clearing up what the female is. I was not 100% for sure on what I was told she was. Dang so there is no telling what these babies are going to look like lol. Thanks for the help and the info. These guys are my first hybrids. My husband is very against them. It took a lot of pleases and puppy dog eyes to get him to let me bring the 20 babies home.

He is a serious purist lol the LFS owner gave our son a Blood Parrot just so he could laugh at my husbands face. He did not want to bring it home but there was no way he could tell a 4 year old he cannot have a fish that he absolutely loved. Every time we would go in he would run to its tank and stick his little finger in the tank so it would "give him kisses". I am hoping the little hybrids I brought home will be gorgeous and win him over.
