Mayan crossed with Herichthys tamasopoensis

Nothing beats a nice little Blood Parrot lol.

Well considering they are not what they were originally billed as, I think they will look much nicer than if they were Mayan x Herichthys Tamp.

The Blood Parrot has grown on me. I am normally a little freaked out by them in the fish stores. It is a little creepy when there are 20+ of them in a tank and they are all staring at you. This one is kinda cute though. He is always soo happy to see people.

My first Cichlid was a Blood Parrot and they are still my favorite.

Ok strange question my son lets the parrot "kiss" his fingers and nose. It is currently about 4 1/2 inches long. Will it ever get teeth that could hurt my son???

They can grow small teeth like bumps on the lips but its nothing to worry about. Only time I get bit is when my females are laying eggs and I am in the tank messing with it.

Here is a short video of what these little ones look like now. They are sharing a tank with Rustys and White Labs so please ignore the Africans lol. They are pretty awesome and I know I am going to have to get rid of a few of them but I really like their personalities. I have some in other SA/CA tanks as dithers but they seem to be meaner than my larger SA/CA fish.
