I don't see the Y...is that because it's a male and their bars can fade some?

That method for identifying them is not 100%. After you've owned both fish the difference between the two is night and day

I own both, festae's and 1 Mayan and it's 100% FESTAE!

Ah gotcha thank you, looking at setting up a 240 in the summer and I want to keep some Festae so been reading up on how to tell the difference between them and Mayan.

Yes it's not 100% more like 98% lol I've had a festae with no ocellaris - the tail spot- Also the "Y" can look like a 4. If your thinking about getting a festae then be sure to get them from a reputable vendor and not LFS until your able to tell the difference.
