 my poor fish, john val john, i turned the light on him this morning and he had a visible slime.... bubbles stuck to him.... not all of fins were moving and the ones that were looked badlyroughed up by one of my 9 other cichlids in my 29 gallon. I took him out, put him in a 3/4 gal feeder tank i have set aside as sort of a waiting room for him. He's the only frontosa.... he's been stable in there the last 4 hours or sooo, but he won't eat! He doesn't look as vibrant or quick is his smaller more colerful friends. WHAT DO I DO? take him to a petstore... get rid of the big spawning male that did this to him? i'm lost....he's pretty much my favorite....

A front won't survive in a feeder tank. Section off his regular tank. Add melafix for damage repair, and a teaspoon of salt per gallon.

if you take him to a fish store you might as well kill it yourself. if possible could you get another small setup? if you could do this you could use some of the water out of your 29 to get it started. then you could use meds, salt, or whatever to get him better. i wouldnt think he could survive in a 3/4 gallon fish bowl for long. no heat, oxygen, or filtration. that is the worst for a sick fish. good luck.

he's got his own oxygen... and i would clean the fronts mini tank every 3 days... i was hoping that one of my other fish would finally mate with my ruling male "Punchy" so he'd stop abusing all the fish that he doesn't take into his little spawning den... is there anyway to reintroduce the recovering/ eating frontosa into the 29 gal? He's lived in there for years with the other 9 fish.... i suppose i could get another setup and maybe a friend for him... but from the looks of it the frontosa looks like he is missing the big tank.... for sure, he's always starring at it from his tank.

yeah, they are still pretty small all of them... i am going to have much better pics soon... but this is all i have right now... it's kind of a starter tank... i put the front Jean... back in and seperated ("Punchy" bright yellow and white fish) he had a female going inside his den while he did his "Retarded Sciesure Dance.", a coupla times... he's in soltary confinement because he's nearly killed my front. Do u guys know if fins can grow back or if the the chunks will remain disfigured....? or what to watch for with signs of eggs??

thanks,

Ash
