Mazuri gel texture

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Shouldn't be. I've used Mazuri bird and fish gels and Repashy and none are even close to being translucent.

Which formulation are you using?

Low fat aquatic gel diet. It's not exactly translucent but its a light yellow color while the powder is brown.

Thanks for the reply, do you cover the pan up when you put it in the refrigerator after it cools down?

I haven't used that formulation (there sure are a lot!). I use 5B0B. Why did you choose the low fat diet?

They do have a picture of the finished product on their website. I assume you're following the directions reasonably accurately?

I prepare in a mixing bowl, mix with a blender, and then pour into silicone molds. I let them cool on the counter for about an hour and then move it to the fridge. After it's set I put them in containers so it doesn't dry out.

Looking at the pic on their website, it looks like it should definitely be an opaque brown. Only way I can think of it ending up how you describe is maybe you forgot the mix? :) Waaaay too much water?

Shoot I used too much water...I think I know what to do now to make it look like the finished product they showed, thanks for that info. I chose low fat diet because my bichir is a little overweight probably due to beefheart and it's the only food that didn't have any filler ingredients, it is pure menhaden fish meal/salmon meal, and then the gelatin and vitamins/supplements. Thanks again.

You are right...I used too much water. I think I know what to do now, thanks for your input.
