I'm looking to make the switch over from my 350 gallon to a Puffer tank and trying to see what opinions are on which one to get. He/She will be the solo fish in the tank and care will not be a problem. Also, could anyone guide me in the direction on where to purchase them or have one shipped please. I've been browsing and having a hard time finding them online to order. Thanks

I prefer Fahaka since they are far more aggressive but grow half the size of MBU. Mbu can co-exist, sometimes with other fish and they can grow to 26-30". it really is a matter of preference for you as the tank can easily house either or.

I found a Fahaka on a site for like $65 shipped and it seems MBU around 3" are around $120+ shipped or so. I'm not as concerned about price as I am about the which one is right for me and it seems it might be the MBU since they can sometimes co-habit with other fish sometimes and maybe in the 350 I would have a better chance of that?

Your tank size will work. My Mbu actually seems to like the company of other fish in the tank. Never kept a Fahaka and I personally find "single-fish" tanks boring but that's just me. Best of luck with your decision.

We have had both, and restarted again when we moved to Canada recently after our xfer from the UK. the 350 is a minimum size for a MBU but even bigger is better. turning circle is the issue. Personally I like the MBU over Fahake but temperament can vary. Some puffer specific boards suggest mbu is not suitable for the home aquarium but if you supply enough interest and have enough flow then both can work. For diversity of co-inhabitants to a tank I would consider Mbu over fahaka but make sure you look at the bio-load in each case. For our Mbu we are going for a 600gallon++ 8x4 eventually with 6footx 2ft refugium/filter...
