Mbu Puffer Questions!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My mbu is about 6" currently. In a 150 for another month or so till 600 ready. He doesn't bother any tank mates other then when he bit the dorsal spine on my tig. Get a marbled crawdad. Self cloneing so a 20L makes a perfect colony. I also feed it pellets and tilapia and snails. I get loads of snails from people in the local club. Glass surfing is normal. My mbu doesn't but my fahaka does. It rams the glass so hard he breaks his teeth. He wants to kill the p bass across from him.

That sounds scary, how did it break its death O.o

Also do mbu puffers have better chances of tolerating their tankmates if they grow up with them? Or do they always pick at slow moving bottom dwellers?

So right now, one of the puffer is laying down in a corner and looks at me. The other one is minding its own business and rubbing the side of the tank. Both show no interest in food or whatsoever.

My bichirs doesn't mind their present and all three stay cuddle to the water pump.

My GATF (Goliath African Tiger Fish) and the Armatus are staying far away from the puffers O - O"

Watch the puffer with those bichirs- around 10"-12" is when my mbu started biting my bichirs

Nice vid Jason. I had a similar setup with the C. moori and mbu, but once the moori got about 3 inches they started to die off one by one because they got bloat from eating the high protein food that I fed the mbu. But yours look great, any tips would be appreciated. Thanks

Hey Roger, I have tried offering massive floating pellets and also sinking pellets but my 12" mbu goes for the floating pellets then just spits them out. How do get them to eat pellets? Do you think it's too late to train him to eat pellets?
