mbu puffer

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have no mbu experience, but this is a common behavior in many smooth puffers. In the past I've had to keep the puffers with different stock (faster fish) or just give them their own tank.

Just my 2 cents. Hopefully some mbu people will reply

Puffers bite everything for the most part. Some people get lucky with a non bitey puff but that's more the exception than the norm.

Mbus require items that will aid in shaving down their constantly growing teeth. Their diet should include raw shell-on shrimp, crayfish, whole clams, mussels, snails, etc. I also kept columnar coral pieces in my mbu's tanks. They used the coral pieces as chew toys. One of my mbus used to chew up coconut shells as it's preferred chew toy.

How many and what other fish do you have with your puffer? And what size tank are we talking about?
