Thanks for all the input..... but, can I keep two of them together in the same tank? And what can you recommend feeding him/her to help speed up the growth? How many times a day or every other day? Thanks.
It's been done before, but expect to see potential aggression between the two. The aggression will probably be lessened if you have lots of visual distractions, hiding places, other fish, etc. I would feed a varied diet, but something with a hard shell on it to help keep the mbu's teeth trimmed. I've fed shell on prawns and frozen krill. Crayfish are also readily accepted. I wouldn't feed more than once a day or every other day given the tendency of mbus to overeat, sometimes fatally. :(

Great.... thanks for the input. Well... I just ordered 2 Mbu's from Toyin at Rehobothaquatics! I'm getting them in tomorrow, I can't wait! :nilly: I've also done some homework on getting a snail farm going.... any suggestions on where to get snails to start with?!?

You live in socal. There are land snails all over the place. I got my starter culture from Ontario. They were all over a friend's yard and on the side of his house at the grass line. You can't order land snails. CA banned their transport across the state line.

Land Snails? The ones that are in your typical garden? You can feed them those!?! Huh?

Hey Oddball, you seem to be the leader on Mbu's..... do you think they could co-exist with a colony of Frontosas?

I meant water snails.... ramhorn snails, trumpet ..... etc.

NO!!!! Tried it before. Lost a great looking male Mpimbwe. Fronts aren't a quick fish by any means. And, it dawned on me that the males blue out to the same blue as the crayfish I feed to the mbus.

Thanks... dodged that bullet! Hey, where do you get your crayfish? LFS have them but they're like $4 ea. Does the market have them?

I own RCCR (Red-Claw Crayfish Ranch). I pretty much have access to up to 500,000 crays at a time. I'm nearly wiped out though. Always clear the bins around the BBQ holidays and year-end holidays.

Guess I should mention...due to popular demand, I'm expanding my facility by 5200 gallons to provide different size larval and juvie frozen packs of crays as large predator fish food. I'll be offering different gut-load designer packs, too.
