mbuna

My 150 show tank has a mixture of everything. I have two fronts, Yellow Labs, Zebras, Peacocks, Flamebacks, Haplocromines, you name it. Fish are just like other animals. Just because they may have a nasty reputation dosen't mean all of them will have a nasty attitude. If you are worried about aggression then Cichlids in general are probably not good for you. It's trial and error. The more cichlids in a tank the less aggressive they tend to be.

I am well aware of the nature of these beast, however my concern was over crowding the mbuna. They have a habit of kill much more expensive fish. It has been a lot easier since I have move the mbuna into their own tank. My peacocks and others color have improved and they are more active. I have less hiding in both tanks now. I am not concerned to say with fish being fish, but as I am well aware of the problem that can occur. Its just not smart to put thirty hungry pitbulls with some kittens either. Sure things might not happen, but the disappointment if something does is hard to explain to children... or my loving wife... who almost cries when any fish dies... why setup myself up for failure...
