mbunas are the best dithers for monster tanks

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I second this. I have used mbuna for growout tanks of ca/sa cichlids for a long time. I dont know if i would try mixing adults though. with my old mbuna tank, i always had fry hiding in the rocks, so the 1st time i used them it was only out of convenience. And worked great. No ill affects at all. Once they have decent size they get tossed back into the african tank.

yeah i know they are vegan but still no fish makes better dieters. My rainbow fish get eaten, my giant diano eaten.

Convicts survive a while but eventually get torn up, only mbuna stay in perfect condition

with RD red wolf and big pike cichlids

I can add any amount of mbuna and they always are okay

I've kept mbuna with big cichlids ("Vieja" and Crenicichla)... worked well. Mbuna wasn't noticeably stressed by the experience. The same cannot be said of other fish I've tried as dithers.

Two fish together that shouldn't be together? Sorry, couldn't find a full-tank shot and I don't have any tanks running with mbuna dithers currently.

they are fast also but the problem is if they are the same size as your monster fish they might kill the monsters wait till the other monsters are bigger so mbuna dont rip them up

there are also lake tang cichlids that make great dithers

convicts suck at diethers because they pair up and go insane taking bites out of all the monsters tails same with jewels

mbunas look great in a large tank with flowerrhorn/red devil/ etc. just gota make sure they get plants spirulina algae and hand feed the centrals meaty food

He is only there for grow out purposes, as soon as he hits 6 inches he will be moved to my 220g comm tank.... as other wise yes! I would be very worried, I have never kept PB before but from what I understand if they even think that they can swallow it they will try.
