You can customize a wet/dry. You are very limited with a canister by comparison.

One thing I love about my wet dry made out of sterlite drawers is that when I need to access my media for anything, I just open a drawer. I don't even have to shut it down to do it. With a canister you have to shut it down, unhook, open, drain, refill and possibly prime, re hook hoses, etc...etc..etc.

Plus I get to say "I made that"

I don't have a Sterilite drawer system, but I like the idea of just opening a drawer. I might have to give that a run for my outdoor tank system.

Can't lose with either one.
Turnover rate on a FX5 is ridiculously strong.
Benefits of wet/dry is media capacity. Size of the return pump is $$$.

redchaser could not have said it any better...

I went with the "Sterlite 3-Drawer" system....I have Rio a 20hd super pump....

I went with an overflow that cost me $29.........
Bio Balls cost me $19.99 to fill one drawer.................
Flex tubing for the intake/outake cost me near nothing.........
The drawer system is $29.99................
The 30g plastic bin(sump) cost $8.99.............

I understand there are some stoers in my Chinatown that sell a dozen scrubbies for $1.....Once found, I will purchase enough to empty the store cabinets...I am filling the third, most bottom, drawer with scrubbies....Second, or midddle, is already filled with Bio-Balls....Top drawewr is for floss.....
