Mealworms/Super worms

In the frog world it's a big no no( I used to keep quite a few) and since they don't eat it just grab their food and swallow the large supers can sometimes bite the inner lining of their stomach. Most times not fatal but can cause infection. I said to crush the heads just because I know some fish don't chew their foods. Just swallow them pretty much, I doubt anything would ever happen. Zennzo has said he has done it before, I'm assuming for awhile now and nothing happened. SO ya, that's why I said it.:)

lol ok thanks... are crickets good snacks for fish too?

My Oscars and GT love crickets. I throw one in and they shoot up and hit it like I'm going to take it out or something, lol.

lol nice. ima pick up some this weekend :D

my jack dempsey and occasionally the bichir pounce crickets. I have been removing their hind legs as they are jagged and I would imagine hard to digest,

this is weird I just picked up some super worms tonight to feed my piranha. They drowned and float. He's not coming up to get them. I guess I need to scoop them out. Anybody know how to make them sink?

Yes they are a great source of Protein...I forget the percentage, but they are mostly Protein...Their jumping legs can be hard to digest for fry, but every adult fish that would mow them, I ever had, never had any problems...

SW are really fatty, so yeah take them out after they die...

Usually they sink and squirm and die on the bottom...I have had to hit them up with air from a u-100 about 20 units so they would float long enough for my Aro to stalk them and smash them on the surface...

Now with 3 Aros, I'm lucky if I can dump 10-15 into the tank and close the lid before I get soaked...

some feed them with shavings of carrots gut load them before feeding them to their arowanas thus the aros get nutritious food plus carrots acts as pigments to brighten up the fins colors

Tried super worms with my jardini with no issues. Just plain ol' myth to me to scare the daylights out of the aquarist.:shakehead
