Meanest Cichlid

I've had a rabid firemouth that out fought any jack dempsey or green terror I've ever seen


Remember, it isnt the size of the firemouth in the fight, but the size of the fight in the firemouth...
 
I would say Umbriferum, Dovii, Beani, Haitiensis, Buttikoferi.

If I had to mention more it would be Festae, Midas, Grammodes,Neetroplus Nematopus, Salvini, and Convict.

I would agree with Cichlidfever. I had a divider between an Umbee and a Dovii in a 180. The Umbee seemed determined to get threw. He would slam I mean ram the divider as hard as possible. And forget about feeding them. In my personal experience I would agree it depends on the fish. But your more likely going to get a killer if you get a Umbee and a dovii. I had to give always my Red devil because of the aggressive nature of those two… I think my fish’s (dovii, Umbee) attitude is IF IT MOVES KILL IT> :(
 
I'd say Hatian pound for pound. then dovii, jaguar, festae and salvini.
 
I've kept many cichlids, from neets to dovii, umbie, odo, etc...

As far as aggression lists go, the general trend is:

dovii
umbee
haiti/odo
beani
festae
grammodes
istlanum
zaliosus
citrinellus
labiatus
buttikofferi

While most on that list definately live up to their rep, but I'd have to give A. Festae the cake. As far as pure outright aggression goes, I don't think I've ever kept a fish as belligerent as Festae. Odo/beani are pretty nasty as well, but I've never seen anything else that could really compete with festae. Buttikofferi, I never really found them that bad, devils/midas have been worse IME.

On a special note, as far as the smaller-medium cichlids go, Salvini have been the nastiest from my experience. Grammodes and istlanum up there as well.
 
I have a 3" parrot (yes ... PARROT) that's the only fish in the tank with enough balls to stand up to my 1' jardini. I defends his territory very fiercely and the jardini either ignores him or backs out. The jar is aggressive towards some of the other fish, but never towards the parrot.

Apparently dynamite comes in a small, fat package that can't close it's mouth :D

Same with my Jag. The only thing he doesnt like is the python during water changes.
 
My red devil has shredded my arm and hand while I move stuff in the tank. So untill something else bites the crap out of me untill i bleed.......red devil.
