Meanest south/central for a 55 gallon

im starting over with my 55 gallon soon and was wondering what cichlid people thought would be the most aggressive monster for this tank?

I know some people don't agree with this...
But a Male Red Devil could be housed in a 55.

red devil thats the mine is the meanest fish ive ever seen in my life and ive owned many fish and had piranha nicer than him

yeah I don't agree with the Red Devil. Some I see seem almost too big for a 75. Definitely an awsome fish, but minimum tank size is a 75.

The mighty (and mighty hard to find) istlanum! Can't get much meaner than that.

Depends on the size of the Red Devil. I have one in a 210 that never got bigger than 10-11 inches. He would be fine as a solo 55. I think Red Tiger Motos don't get over 10-11 inches and they are mean.

personally i think Devils get to big for a 55, id go with a Salvini, maybe even a pair, they got attitude backed by beauty!

not necessarily the meanest, but no one else has suggested it. How about a pair of neets. they are probably the meanest small CA cichlid

Green Terror.

I currently have a Midavil (she is a doll so far, a fat doll, but a doll nevertheless), a Jack Dempsey and a Green Terror.

She has the convict and the jack dempsey constantly on the ropes. And I mean seriously she is a furious fish, of course carefully respecting Big Bertha the Midavil. No one messes with her. But she doesn't mess with any of them.

She actually lets them hide from the GT behind her and will often times glide in between and chase the GT off.
