I only measure my fish if I have to pull them out for some reason. I figure if I have to take them out I may as well have a tape handy to get a measurement. Obviously, I don't measure my fish often.
Made a ruler out of masking tape that I have on the front of the tank. Have my tanks in the basement so only I really see them. Masking tape ruler is broken down by 1/2 inch.
