measuring arowana

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just put a tape beside the tank and then take a photo. You would already know the fish size in less time then it takes for you to take off the fish tank lids. Why do you want to know the length exactly for anyway?

You should be able to glance and know an approx. size.. exact size shouldn't be that important.

It is another matter of opinion ranging from different hobbiests and their own involvment with their fish :) I like to know the exact measure of my fish especially when some one calls me on my measurements :)

So I usually measure when i move them .. Which for me in the last year has happened 4 times due to upgrades and a tank failure :)..

I like to pull my fish at least once a year to get measurements.. it has just been my luck that I have had more importatn reasons to do so the last little whiel :)

the next measurement fro me is not too far offf... Another upgrade :D

No idea what you just said... I've never had someone call "BS" on me because I said my fish was 7" instead of 6.25.. and I'd rather not stress my fish from a move... because just moving them from tank to tank is stressful enough, why lay 'em out and measure? Really serves me no purpose unless I was pro fishing.

it's almost impossible to get an exact reading in the tank, however it's much better for the fish!! larger fish like aros are difficult to get in n out of the tank stressfree!

I have seen a bunch of people get called on their measurements :) All I was saying is that YOUR way is not my way.... And My way has proven to be just as harmless to date as yours :)

I thought that was pretty clear... Hopefully it is as clear as glass now :)

With somthing like an arowana you would be better measuring from thje side of the tank.

hey..i bet that's better since they are excellent jumper and they are maybe hurting themselves..you'd better have approx measurement, not hurtin your aro is priority OR YOU'LL REGRET LATER..:D

doesnt the tank magnify everything?

No it's actually just the opposite, depending on how far away from the front glass the fish is.

To me it's not worth the risk, how would ya feel if while trying to measure the aro out of the tank, the aro injured itself. Whats the difference if ya know it's 22" long or is about 21-23" long?

Haha, that's hilarious.. what idiot would come out and call "BS" on a fish's size? For what reason would you care to do so? Hahahaha. That's a "rolling on the floor laughing" type of deal.. I see no point in doing so, but I guess it is VERY important to you.. so, it MUST be done.. not my fish, I don't give a hoot.
