Good dwarf monitor is an ackie if you can afford em' - unfortunately all of the dwarf species are very expensive.
If I saved up I could get an ackie.

Been wanting one for a long time but I think a BTS or Beardie would be a better choice right now, and I'm moving next year or the year after that and a 4x2x2' would have to be built inside a room and then taken down when i move.:nilly:

Anyone have an BTS breeders?

I just got a REALLY nice paycheck...
I could set one of those big stock tanks up for an ackie, a 6x2x2' is $130, then I'd just mulch/play sand to mix together, spot lights and a uvb light.
And then make a nice top out of wood/screen or plexi. :D

Dunno, money fuels the mind!
Have all kinds of things running through my head.

Thanks for the links, some nice BTS.
There is some really cool looking BTS morphs out there along with all the locals and what not. Very cool animals.
Probably what I'll go with.

the 55 would work for a while. but eventualy the water dragon would need a bigger enclosure.

you could try some of the smaller uros.
you could try an ameiva, they are in the tegu family but dont get as big. but they dont really like to be handled.
blue tounge skink would be good.
bearded as you mentioned.
leopard geckos.
take a look on kingsnake an see what you like and go from there.
Yup your rigth:)

I'm going with a BTS.
I'm having a hard time finding breeders though, of course theres kingsnake but I'd like an actual breeder page with different morphs and all that.

Question on the ackies.. didn't want to start a new thread.
But, I know an ackie needs a 4x2' but does it need a 2' depth?
A 4x2' plastic cages from animalplastics is $165 currently but its 14'' deep and the litter dam only allows for about 3'' of substrate. Of course I could pile substrate to one side of the enclosure but would that be adequate housing for an ackie?

any input on this??

Nobody?
I just want to know if an ackie would be alright with a few inches of substrate, 6'' or so.
I could pile it up on the cool side.

Of course I could get a stock tank for the ackie but if I have the cage why not use it?
