Medium sized yet less aggressive cichlid

What sized tank, what are the tankmates, and how many fish do you have room for? These will all factor into whether or not a fish is a good choice. When people ask for stocking suggestions, it's important to let everyone know what sort of environment the fish will be going into.

For instance, someone suggested a Geo. But geos do best in groups, so do you have room for 6 medium fish or only one?

Hi the tank is 3 foot by 18" by 20" high. My current stock is a 7" clown knife, 7" Lima shovel nose catfish, 4 inche Raphael cat and a pleco I really only have room for 1 medium sized fish

You don't have room for anymore fish. Your tank is overstocked as it is. A clown knife needs a minimum 220g tank--they get about 28" in captivity. & Lima shovelnose get over 18"

x2.

I know there are a lot of blood parrot haters here, but I kind of like their look. If they were a dog they would be a pug or even bulldog:D. Their personalities are priceless, other CA/SA cichlids can't match up to their personalities in my opinion.

Thank you!

Really if your looking for something around the 10" size then expect it to be somewhat aggressive. A fish that size needs to hold its own and will surly do that. The amount of times I have seen squabbles between CK and large American cichlids is amazing. Either the cichlid would be so small it's eaten, or so big It would destroy the CK. however you put it a medium large American ichlid isn't for this tank. Don't just think about the size of the fish in the tank, but the load there will be on your filtration with all of those large fish I doubt it could cope.

If I were you I'd look and sell off those fish that will get very large, you have a three foot tank which myself and many others would only recommend for a small pair of cichlids, such as cons, sajica ect.
