Medium to small sized non poisonous snakes?

no such thing as a poisonous snake, they are venomous. there is a difference. You can swallow venom and be fine (unless there is a cut in your mouth).

what about a banded or florida water snake? they do not get huge and they strongly resemble a cotton mouth. you could also look into an amazon tree boa, a western hognose, a viper boa, a false water cobra, etc.... the list goes on and on.

ATB's are awesome, still waiting on a pair...eventually...

They are a pain to handle although so are my Moluccan's... I take that back I think I'd rather handle the ATB's... LOL

Nothing like a 5' snake with a prehensile tail, that strikes like lightning, and they are only 2 yrs old... Awesome animals though, not venomous but I don't want to be bitten either...

aaah get a ball python.. corn snake.. red tailed boa... wait wairt.. i know emerald tree boa.... looks just like a viper... well kinda but yeh they dont take too much space either they also have the longest fangs of any snake.. and there not venomus

I thought the gaboon viper had the longest? Or do you mean of the non-venomous snakes?

honestly I think you should do some research on google and take a look at corn snakes, milk snakes, rat snakes, king snakes, ball pythons, hognose, spotted/anthill/childrens python, house snakes and similar- look at what you like the look of, look up the requirements and see if it would be a suitable match for what you want.

This cool snake will kill you... It is actually a blue Asian coral snake... Thats right, only the North American coral snakes follow the little rhyme so you can tell them apart from the harmless ones...

I say kingsnake as a starer snake handsdown. Another that is SUPER easy to keep and wsa mentioned earlier in the thread is a spotted or children's python, the anthill pythons are very expensive, but anything in the Antaresia family are easy to keep and stay small they plus don't have much in the way of special requirements. I have had many snakes and kingsnakes and ball pythons are the easiest to handle. Every one that I have ever had was already "tame" when I got it and I never had to work with a single one to tame them. My children's python is an overlooked option for a beginner, they can be a little nippy but they are so small that they can't do anything to you.

I think corn snakes are the easiest to keep with the most color varient and mild temperment.
