If your wanting to use them like you would with the other more colorful ones in your filters as bio media , then i would say yes but the multi-colored ones are alot cheaper to buy .
Make sure they are the 300 series of stainless steel and not the 400 series. The 400 will rust! By the way, most of the cheaper ss is the 400 series.
I would say no. They way those things are mass manufactured, I wouldn't trust that it is actually a good quality of stainless steel.
