do some reading. its a horrible substrate. its to big of a disscussion for this thread. lets try to stay on subject:D
alright I was only into reptiles for a little while, so I wont argue with the obviously more experienced. I will say it was good of you too rescue those dragons, my friends into herps and I got him one for his birthday like 2 years ago.

Your dragon looks good:D Dont forget the uv;) As for the substrate, another possibility specialy now that he´s on quarentine: moist kitchen paper. It will help with cleanliness untill you know he´s 100% healty. Dont forget it would be good to take him to see a vet for a checkup. When I had my cwd many years ago, many inicialy failed to trive and even some died, why? Parasites, intestinal paresites, they were full of them. After doing some deworming they made a remarkable recovery. From my experience they are very prone to them, no wonder since they are allmost all wild cauth

I'd recomend crushed walnut shell as a substrate, and by the way is that a chinese water dragon or a swift?
I will just say that crushed wallnut shell is a good way to kill herps, alongside corn knops and calcy sand:screwy:

With those temps the Dragons immune system will NOT be able to fight off those parasites, most animals live with parasites all their lives and it wont affect them in any way. Trust me.... but they can pass off a large majority and thrive just fine without having to deworm, which affects the reproductive system if it is not dosed correctly or if the wrong medication is used. Get the temps to 115F humidity no less than 60% and make sure you cover those clear sides. Use cork wall from office depot for 14 bucks you get a 48x 48 sheet.

thanks varanio
u saved me like 60 bucks that i was gona spend on that zoo med cork wall
also i took em to the vet
hes got worms
we are going to deworm him this weekend

so the basking temp should be at 115?
then what should the ambient be?
i havent read that they need that high of temps anywhere
so i just wana make sure

i would keep it around 115 all the time. deff keep it high while he has worms. like V said he should pass most of it himself.

im doing the same with the beardie i just got.
