Just picked him up, getting him acclimated. Have many nice spots for him to claim as a home. I'm thinkng West African but may be able to get better pics when he is out of the bag

Best picks I can get before he claimed his home. Can you let me know ID? Thanks About a foot longuploadfromtaptalk1393555705881.jpguploadfromtaptalk1393555719681.jpguploadfromtaptalk1393555749666.jpguploadfromtaptalk1393555765450.jpg

So far he seems to be enjoying his new home. I had one a long time ago, before I gave him to a LFS and regretted it shortly after that. This is the first one I've seen big enough that ij not concerned about bringing in something unhealthy. I plan on feeding market shrimp, tilapia/cod/smelt/catfish from the supermarket, nd pellets. Anything else I am missing.

ALGAE WAFERS!! They will develop lateral line erosion without green matter (algae wafers are the easiest way) being a constant part of their diet.

If you're saying he is slender to start with what would you recommend to feed. I found that my tanks works best on a 4-day a week schedule that would be made up of market shrimp, tilapia/cod/catfish filet (whatever is on sale) and cichlid pellets/massivore. I will be throwing in algae wafers based on a prior message but from an in-person perspective he really seems healthy and well fed. But I'm not going to pretend I am an expert. I love the species, research what I can but none of that makes up first hand knowledge.

Just for additional info, in the past, and currently in other tanks I have been able to train gars, stingrays, oscars, and gobies to be hand fed (only gars drew blood but what percentage of people can say they've been bit by fish that lived with the dinosaurs). Do lungfish get to the points they recognize feeders and can be handfed?

Thanks again for everything

In order.
Your original feeding list was perfect (with the algae wafers in). The feeding requirements for all the lungfish are exactly the same or just marginally different.
Your feeding schedule is also great, as far as I know they don't get lateral line erosion until later on in the lungfish's life.
With lungfish hand fed = feeding them your hand. Most say as they get older they just bite everything until they get food, so your hand may be at risk.
