Beautiful fella he is! I have a 70cm aethiopicus - love him to bits. Would love to own an annectens like yours but can't keep them in the same tank. What a pity!
 
Thanks. Definitely looks nice and has taken over a spot in the corner that keep him covered but well visible.
If the water condition is done and goes through frequent changes or do they only swim to the top when needed?
I did learn from my gars meant using tongs. Despite how friendly and calm this guy seems I do like my fingers where they are

I dont think I understand your question.
 
The only other lungfish I had was years ago. Every5/10 min it would swim to the top, gulp some air, and settle back dow. This guy does not seem to do that so far. Which is more appropriate behavior for a healthy lungfish?

Interesting question. I noticed that after they get acclimated and accustomed to the tank, they start going up for air more often, even if they still have external gills.
 
My experience is they don't go up very often. Maybe every half hour.
