I never said primates didn't have emotions, if I did please quote as I don't remember saying it.

Also, please quote where I also said YOU (particularly) judged him for having a primate? I never. Unless you felt you were actually one of those judging (whom I said knew who they were) then I didn't neccasarraly mean you (I actually agreed with you posting the link and saying that was all that need to be said.

I don't shout whenenever I feel like it. If somebody (I FEEL) needs sticking up for on this forum I will do it, if I feel some one is being rude to me I will defend myself (or shout off as you say) or if somebody is posting nonsense "advice" that could be potentially dangerous, THEN I have something to say.

Walls, all I'm saying in this thread is, people are being way too quick to judge this fella, and people ALWAYS think the worst of even us (other members of the MFK reptile forum) which to be quite honest, is sad. Us reptile (or exotic) keepers are actually sopposed to be one of the very few that understand each other, not just attack eachother for keeping a monkey or caiman something else abit more exotic than you keep. Of course people (like myself) are allowed their opinion and too say it but this fella has done nothing wrong (until proven so as the likes of LC) to deserve people just posting critisism and nout much else.

My opinion once again, is that its also sad some members here of the forum only post when critisism is needed or to post negative comments, they don't post positive that those who do deserve it.

Yes I argue and do run my mouth walls but if I remember rightly, you do it too. In your own way. I just think its morally wrong (the above) and if you don't thats fine, its my two cents which I'm entitled too.

As for a reptile not being bored? Where is your evidence? I don't know about your enclosure, but if (almost) any reptile, say a 6 ft boa was left in a 6 ft viv its entire life with just a water bowl it would be "bored". Not of course in the same way a mammal would, but snakes too, need abit of motivation or should I say, something other than 4 glass walls and a wooden lid) too stare at for 20 years.

I am also not "TRYING" to compare reptiles and mammals, I think you miss my point. My point is we all keep exotics, and whether you agree or not we have all taken freedom from these animals in one form or another, regardless of who you think has taken it more or to the extreme, we are all as bad as eachother!

Sorry but I don't understand how we can all keep what we like but because its alitte bit rarer for monkeys to be kept, he shoudn't?

He may have a huge outdoor enclosure ready for it, a permit other monkeys for it to interact with and 25 years experience. Then again, he might have bought it in the black market for next to nothing and keeps it in a parrot cage, but why STRAIGHT AWAY think the worst of our FELLOW EXOTIC KEEPERS? This is the part that saddens me! Why not just drop the attitude and wait to find out if hes the type of person keeping it in a parrot cage rather than jumping on his case straight away (again I am not reffering to you).

I just hope this fella DOES know what hes doing and does what that caiman keeper did to the others on the threads, and makes you eat your words. It may stop some of the constant jumping of the gun that is all to frequent here.

I hope now, you get my point you seemed to miss it before. I am not bothered about behaviour/boredom issues in this thread, thats for another one, the point was people just being friendly rather than up their bums all the bloody time.

Well, good keeper or not, I think we've all provided this guy an incredible evening of drama and entertainment. Looking at some of the stuff going back and forth it is a bit ridiculous isn't it? I apologize for jumping to conclusions.
In the end, so long as he's keeping the monkey properly. I don't give a damn. Yes, it is a cute monkey. And I'm pretty sure most if not all of us have dreamed of having a pet monkey at one point or another in our lives.
I personally would love to see pics of the enclosure. I like seeing nicely done critter setups.

;) Exactly. If he keeps it properly awesome. Its something I'll probably never be able to do, but I'd love to own a few monkeys in a large outdoor enclosure with swings and branches and all that stuff, but unless I win the lottery it probably wont ever happen. Primates are just so interesting! For about a week on Animal Planet it was all documentaries on primates, from chimps to monkeys, it was very neat watching older chimps teach younger chimps how to use sticks to get termites from a termite mound. After all, they are distant relatives.

You said....
"Yes but we shouldn't on an exotic pet forum. That's where (for the most part) the enthusiasts are, no one questioned you for having a boa. Yes your boa is (potentially - like the monkey) dangerous (which I already assume you understand as your on an exotic pet forum - so I assume the best, not worst) so why should this guy get judged for having something abit more exotic than your boa, but you can't? "
So if you were not refering to me then who?????

No one on this thread ever said HE was "wrong" .

You lost me here, yes I will go off on LC but only because he is EVERYTHING that is wrong with the hobby. But other than that can you quote me one time for running my mouth to anyone else here?? Oh and before you say it I did not just spout off on this thread either.

Not even gonna touch this one as it will start a serious war.

And yes I have no idea how to proplerly use the quote feature. LOL!

LOL WALLS!
The boa thing was at KH.

I know nobody said he was wrong, but he got negative comments.

KH your last post was very well said, and I agree. I too would like to see some pics, just 'cause it interests me.

Walls- click the little "speech bubble" at the top of the box when you right, alternatively, at the bottom of the post you want to quote, theres a box that says "quote" click it :naughty::p:perv:

also i think the aggression has to with if the animal is a male or a female.

I will say this... guessing that it's another 'look at me' thread and it's not really his. I only say that based on this same member posting other pics of odd ball type animals, and when all is said and done, it's not his (on this and other forums). Usually, as the ball of yarn unwinds and people point out VERY poor care and the complete lack of respect for the animal, claims of "It's a friends" or "It's not mine" pop up.

If it is, it's too bad he's more than likely keeping it illegally. It's obvious by the dressed up like a human picture that there is no respect for the animal at all.

I just am not able to keep a primate. Sure theres the cost, risk, legality, etc. I just cant bear the face of a furry little human in a bird cage staring at me all day... And it saddens me that there are people who can.

Why should we NOT assume the worst? The majority IS the worst. Its just the minority that cares about it enough to come here and fix the problem. And the occasional bumbling idiot who comes in and gets burnt. Learn to lower your expectations. You wont be dissapointed as much.

But if youre the .00000000001% minority who can keep a primate in the right way, thats great, have at it! Maybe you can make a difference.
