Salt is salt plus a few additives no matter what kind its is (except for epsom salt which is Magnesium sulfate).

Good to see your removing it, the salt might be causing the slime coat issue but not sure.

I either use aquarium salt or Kosher salt, which is pure salt(sodium chloride). I never used to put it in with him because he was always alone, I thought he would hurt or eat my other fishes. I used salt with my RTC,TSN, and my PIM ornatus, never had a problem with stress or growth. Tank is highly oxygenated so I never took salt to be an issue. But I just did a 50% water change and added no salt...was really hard to do because I'm used to putting some salt in lol.
