Mekong puffer exp?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
^ Just make sure to give your puffer at least one cave to hide in... since my old pair used to love hiding out in their makeshift driftwood caves all day long...

I read that they require a 30 gallon tank so im gonna upgrade him within the next month when I have time to set it up. I have him in a ten gallon rimless tank right now, is that sufficient because they dont move around much? Also the tank doesnt have a lid, are these guys known to jump at all during feeding?

Out of my old pair, only my female was an aggressive eater of sorts where she would come right out her cave and halfway up the tank to grab food...

The male on the other hand wouldnt leave more than his body length (give or take a few inches) to feed...

So should be no worries about jumping...

All puffers are in danger of jumping out of a cover-less tank.

Im moving him into a tank with a lid today, are they good with live plants or do the puffers tend to bite them?

That species should leave them alone, since they don't eat snails.
