pimafix is also an extract. They both work well to euthanize fish especially pimafix (that is what I use pimafix for) but not much else IMO. This whole "herbal remedy" bandwagon is a sham. Not that I don't believe there is a place for herbal/folk remedies but salt and fresh water are much more effective than this stuff.
May of not been effective for you, but it saved my firemouth even though it was expired for months. My firemouth was upside down barely moving when I found him, I immediately put him in a 5g bucket with a bubbler and a heater and added this stuff and I did not expect the firemouth to live for more than 24 hrs after I found him, but he did. He still swims kinda funny a month later after the incident, but I'm just glad hes alive and much better. No salt was necessary/used.
& as far as using it for fish euthanization, I don't believe in that. I try to save a fish no matter what...but thats just me.
True. Far from a sham. It may not be strong enough for certain infections and wounds, but it's not without value.
