i wasn't gonna say anything but i just have to-dry hands?ya know what-I am gonna leave this alone-good luck man-try washing up when you are done BEFORE putting your hands in the tank
 
I always wash my hands before I do anything with my tank. Just do a w/c and watch your parameters, keep doing them every cpl of days til the lotion is gone. I am a man and I do wear lotion. My elbows would look like they were dipped in flour if i didn't.

After changing some water out, it looks like it may not be lotion after all? A film of gunk on the water that tends to develop on my 5g as well. Maybe Kentucky water is just junk?

Anyway, I'll run through the top with a paper towel in a net. Thanks Chloe.
 
like most female fish geeks here, i were tons of lotion, perfume, and all that junk....but i still no better than to not wash my hands ;)

im glad it wasnt the lotion :D

I did the paper towel in a net, it didn't work too well. Also did a coffee filter in a net, but that didn't take much off either. For now I'm assuming that the stuff on top was just from the frequent feedings since the fish aren't showing any adverse symptoms.
 
Why again did you put lubricant on your hands, I think I missed that part.
 
Hows your surface tension? When I added an FX-5 to my 90 after a while i turned off the AC 110, but after a while since there wasnt enough disturbance, I got that film too, turned back on the AC110, problem solved.
 
I wear lotion too, everyday, once or twice a day.

But yeah, if you feel like your hands are dirty, it probably is and you should wash it first before you dip it in your fish tank.
