I did NOT mean to infer that this was THE SAME species as the Steve Irwin encountered as in the oceans. These are NOT manta rays which, I understand, are HUGE and rather (if not TOTALLY) harmless. In the Amazon, these were freshwater stingrays with a VERY DANGEROUS stinger.
