Messing with the new DSLR (river photos)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
what camera did you use?

Nikon D60.

So last time I posted non-fish in the Photo Lounge they got moved to the Lounge, now they've been moved to the Photo Lounge from the Lounge...some standard rules would be sweet.

30 second shot in the backyard just now.

Used to be an epic steelhead river back in the day. Pretty spotty these days. Lots of wild rainbow trout and salmon smelt, but they don't get much over 10". This is far up river so all the salmon that make it this far are in bad shape. Kings, coho, and pinks.

long exposure on creeks, rivers, water falls are tricky because of the detail wanted to be picked up in the water/backround, while not blowing the highlights out of the water as soon as you touch PS contrast if not sooner, if you know how to use shoot HDR (high dynamic range) you could have the pics a bit more balenced.

Just read up slightly and since the D60 doesn't have an autobracket feature you essentially take 3-5 photos at different exposures and then combine them into one photo on the computer, correct?

I'm off to do a waterchange and sleep, I'll read more tomorrow.
