what do you want to know?
halides are very good to grow plants but i would use co2 supplementation with it. I dont consider co2 injection very difficult, but if your unattentive and set it wrong you can kill your fish.

Question two: How much is my electricity bill going to go up? lol

Also I've been warned that because the halides are so bright my discus won't be happy. Prolly end up hiding all the time. Any comments?
about the same amount as if you had the same wattage in any other lighting type. whats the wattage of your halides? some reefers have alot more light then what a plant needs.

the sun is pretty damn bright too lol. they will probably be ok if they were in a planted setup before. halides light up slowly giving the fish more of a chance to adjust. there actually probably better for the fish.

The light was on a sw before. reef set up. i don't know the wattage but i saw some pictures of the reef and everything was all blown up and over grown

sorry that doesn't really help.
look all over the bulbs and all over the ballasts to try to figure it out.
