how can you even mention METALLICA in the same sentance as avenged 7 fold, they really are on a different level. i have been lucky enough to see Metallica twice in the past 2-3 years and both times they were amazing, i do prefer the older stuff but still enjoy the new (except for that whole frantic thing).

i saw them 20 years after the release of master of puppets at download festival and they played the entire album cover to cover, soooooooooooooo good.

on the other hand i saw avenged 7 fold and the best thing they did was cover walk by the mighty PANTERA, now they really were a truelly amazing band

I agree.. How do they cover "Walk"?? I mean the song was so nuts to begin with I don't know how a band covering it can even come close to the original version.

Metallica isn't the same Metallica.. and I don't think they're trying to be.

Their old stuff still rocks. I drove to work today listening to the Black Album, got all pumped up to sit at my crappy desk job. Woo Hoo!

Rob Halford is losing it as well. I saw Judas Priest a couple of years ago, and was sorely disappointed when they played Painkiller...

i totally disagree,When i saw Halford last year i thought he still rocks with a great voice. He has only been hitting those notes since the 70's,lol

Well like I said, the main thing that bugs me is how james seems to add way too much up and downs to his voice instead of just keeping it straight. My favorite way he sang was on justice.I saw them on that tour and then about 8 or 9 more times up until the st anger album. They were always good live, maybee I just keep seeing bad vids.Either way,the black album was realy pushing it for me but at least it still had no goofy vocals, maybe a few times but really for me,justice was the last real deal.I know that its really about the shows for ppl. They already had so many fast songs and maybe needed some more slow stuff so they could get a break on stage.Really for me it all comes down to the crap he does with his vocals that bugs the most.Maiden will live forever I hope, lol. Its funny to me but bruce always sounds like someone struggleing to hit notes but thats just his natural thing. However I still dont like much from them or at least think everything is diferent after the no prayer for the dying album.I saw them I think right before or after that one.For me,their has never been another number of the beast or trooper,or aces high or,lol, you know.Im glad I got to see most of these bands in their hay days.Anthrax,Maiden,Metallica,Ozzy,Suicidal,Slayer,Ramones,Overkill, and some others.WHo knows, maybee the new metallica will be good and someone will tell him to sing dryer again. On maiden,I sill listen to all the stuff since no prayer,I just think its all way slower.

I feel like the black album was the first of the new metallica but I like it better now than I did back then,I was hurt back then by it because it really was my fav band and I fallowed the other albums and then just knew this new one would blow us away and it just was way slow and strange. It wasnt bad music,we just wanted more fast good metal from one off the best bands ever.

Man i try not to think about this subject and you guys had to bring it up lol ...... I miss the old metallica and not to mention old cliff R.I.P

However, if you were saying he still can do it, perhaps he was tired/out of it? I truly hope so. I <3 the old man. Even if he does like boys
