Though I only keep Mt type kings I have heard nothing but great things about these Black Kings . Real nice looking.

She's a beauty!

She is! :D She's my little black mamba lol that's what I tell people when they first see her, and I usually hold her with a pen in my hand and pretend I get freaked out when her face gets near my hand, and then I move her towards their face and say 'aahhh watch out!' lol I scared my dad and my sister in law pretty good with that one :D

Great shot! Looks like a mini black rat snake.

Thank you Vicious! I wanted a black rat at first, but I saw a big MBK at my herp shop and like the way they have solid black color.

What a stunning snake!
Always wanted a Mexican Black King Snake. They seem few and far between here in the UK though. Shame :(
On the topic of handling when in slough, no, I personally don't think it harms a calm animal. My royal python Kurt is very defensive when he is in the blue, so I don't handle him so as not to stress him. But a calm animal used to being handles is fine :)

Thank you Jessica :D I haven't been into reptiles that long, but they don't seem to be that common. My herp shop has some babies right now and I'm tempted to pick up a male, but I'm resisting so far.

Thank you for the feed back on the handling issue. So far I've handled all three of my snakes when in slough and they are all very calm. I've noticed my royal does prefer to stay coiled up so I don't handle him as much, just move him to spot clean the viv.

So far she is awesome. She's always been very accepting of handling and I even pet her head and neck and she seems unphased. she is fairly active, and switches between roaming above the aspen, and other times she just tunnels beneath it.

At feeding time though, she goes into a frenzy. Never struck at me, but she is noticeably faster in her movements.

Here is a feeding clip I shot 3 months ago when she was smaller. At the end of it, you can see her trying to grab the pink, but since she was ready to shed, her vision was off, funny scene though :)

No probs on the feed back. That advice is usually for newbies who can't seem to grasp the idea of what stress can do to animals, but for more advanced keepers its usually not a problem.

Like the vid, funnily enough one of my kings does that everytime, misses lol. He just gets so over excited bless him LOL.
I like the fact all of my royals feed no problem in the blue too, sometimes it takes a little while for them to realise its food though :D
